White Tuna Belly
The white tuna belly is the most appreciated part of the tuna, as it is the tastiest and juiciest, due to its greater amount of fat. These fats are also rich in omega 3 fatty acids that are beneficial for our health and help us prevent circulatory system diseases.
Like the rest of our tuna preserves, the tuna belly comes from white tuna traditionally fished in the Cantabrian Sea, captured one by one by rod. In this way, we promote sustainable fishing , guaranteeing the sustainability of the seas in our commitment to the marine ecosystem.
Next, we select the best specimens in the Getaria fish market, from which our experience tells us that we can obtain the best tuna belly. For this selection we speak first with the fishermen to find out the conditions in which they have been fished, and we personally check them, to make sure that we select the best pieces.
Later, the tuna is cleaned and its belly is separated and prepared, like the rest of our preserves, in an artisanal way, and packaged one by one with superior quality olive oil , specially selected for its exclusive maturation, supervised by our master canners.
This process will include a maturation period of minimum two years , thanks to which we achieve a white tuna of insurmountable flavour and velvety texture , which makes it unique in the market.
